Purbeck Ice Cream
This is fabulous ice cream made by passionate people in beautiful South Dorset. Peter & Hazel Hartle diversified from dairy farming 20 years ago when the introduction of milk quotas made the farm uneconomical. They started out maintaining their own herd and using the milk to make small batches of ice cream, but have now grown large enough to buy in milk from surrounding farms on the Isle of Purbeck. The ice cream is still made on their farm with only natural flavourings added to produce such delicious varieties as Dorset Heather Honey, Strawberry Seduction and the divinely decadent Clotted Cream.
The Purbeck team are also dedicated to the environment, taking care to maintain hedgerows, plant trees and put up bird and bat boxes to encourage wildlife to flourish in the area. They recycle 95% of all their waste and encourage their suppliers to adopt a similarly eco-friendly outlook.
Consistently successful in the Great Taste and Taste of the West awards over the last few years, Purbeck ice cream also wins whenever we hold blind tastings at our units so fingers crossed for an indian summer and thanks to Purbeck for a truly great product.
