Food facts...

30 years ago soup enthusiasts had a fairly limited choice. Tomato, chicken, vegetable, oxtail and, er, that was about it. Nowadays the choice is almost infinite….from cheese and broccoli to lentil and bean.

But, hang on to your ladle, because it seems as though we’ve all come full circle. Our ancestors apparently used to enjoy some pretty exotic flavours too. The earliest archaeological evidence points to soup being consumed way back in 6000 BC.

What was it made from?

Get this.

It was made, seemingly, from…………hippopotamus.

And we think we’re being pretty adventurous with our flavours now?
