Pumpkins Galore
Wednesday October 31st 2007

In what must surely soon become the highlight of the autumn season, our 2nd Annual Pumpkin Carving competition was once again held at Lewis Silkin to the delight of all H&J Socialisers. As always, creativity was positively encouraged and with the help of a glass or two of wine, our competitors were soon slicing and dicing like true professionals.
The much anticipated shortage of orange pumpkins due to the appalling summer weather did not seem to affect us and our green-grocer came up trumps with squashes of all shapes and sizes. The finished articles all looked stunning especially when the lights were switched off and the candles lit to show off the ghastly faces which would surely keep a coven of witches at bay.
Our guys from two new contracts showed the old guard how it should be done with 1st prize going to Dawid from Channel 5 and 2nd to Cedric from the Royal Society. Anita from Trowers was a close 3rd and Brenno received a special prize for creative use of chillies! Congratulations to everyone who took part, especially to Veronica and the team from Chrysalis who are yet to miss a social even though they have farthest to travel. Well done guys.
