H&J Supports BHWT
Tuesday March 3rd 2009
As a departure from the usual Christmas gifts, last year Harbour & Jones decided to sponsor some ex-battery hens, Scooter and Petal, on behalf of our clients and to support the fantastic work carried out by the BHWT in increasing awareness of the plight of the millions of laying hens who provide the food industry with the majority of their eggs.
As the UK’s only registered charity for ex-battery hens, The Battery Hen Welfare Trust has found over 125,000 free-range retirement homes for caged birds destined for slaughter. The charity also raises awareness as to how every consumer can help improve the lives of laying hens through purchasing products containing free-range eggs. As a result of their work the BHWT has drawn considerable celebrity interest, enjoying support from Jamie Oliver as one of its Patrons.
