Gastro Tour

Thursday May 18th 2006

Harbour & Jones employ the services of the wonderful Jenny Linford, author of Food Lovers’ London, to conduct gastronomic tours of some of London’s diverse and fascinating food shops.

As part of the induction for new staff we have developed a tour which includes a visit to Chinatown, seeking out unusual and exotic ingredients, then on to Soho and Marylebone, to explore the rich variety of European food shops, delicatessens and coffee shops. Some of these are recent additions to the vibrant food scene in these areas and have been opened in response to greater demands for locally sourced, organic and ethically farmed food while others have been plying their trade for decades. What they all have in common is fabulous food and impeccable service. Something to inspire our new recruits.

For our clients we organise a fascinating trip around Borough Market, now considered one of London’s best food markets, which is packed with interesting small suppliers selling a wide range of high quality goods. We make sure there is plenty of time for a good wander around the market, but also arrange for visits to some of the shops that have sprung up in the surrounding area. These include Neal’s Yard Dairy where we stop to taste some of the best of Britain’s cheeses and Brindisa who import delicious chorizos, hams and other provisions from Spain. Just make sure that you have enough room left for lunch at a local restaurant.

We have recently held a client Gastro Tour, but anyone interested in attending future tours and finding out more about Harbour & Jones should contact Nathan Jones on 07834 601324, or email tasty@harbourandjones.co.uk
