Farm Tours
Thursday May 25th 2006
At H&J, we want our chefs to be inspired by good food which has been lovingly produced by knowledgeable, passionate people. What better way of doing this than by taking them to farms around the country to see for themselves how our suppliers work. We have visited the Wakefield Triangle and heard the forced rhubarb growing by candlelight! We have tasted the delights of the Somerset cider orchards and next we are heading off to Kent to see strawberries grown in the traditional way by Sandy Dawes, a 7th generation strawberry farmer, to sample oysters from the Whitstable beds and, with any luck, to take a tour around the Britain’s oldest brewer, Shepherd Neame. We will report back after this latest trip which is happening in June.
