An Exciting Start to 2009
Sunday December 14th 2008
As we approach our 5th birthday in January 2009, the year ahead already looks very exciting with three openings in the diary and the team working hard to add more. The New Year will start with a flurry of activity and all hands on deck as we open for business at St Paul’s Cathedral on Tuesday 6th January. As well as running the public restaurant and café we will also have the opportunity to cater for events in St Paul’s stunning Wren Suite, which includes the wonderful Beehive. Originally used as a smelter for the Cathedral’s lead roof, this room was rumoured to have been used by Sir Christopher Wren as a lock up for the gold paint which decorates the Cathedral dome.
Also commencing in January is our new contract at Toyota’s technical training facility near Redhill in Surrey. This academy offers regular training to Toyota staff and also holds events for engineers from outside of the company.
Spring will then see the opening of the new headquarters of the Institute for Government, an independent centre founded with the aim of helping make government more effective. H&J are already working with the IFG on the refurbishment of its Grade II* listed building in Carlton Gardens and when this becomes the institute’s new home in May 2009 we will be providing daily breakfast, lunch and meetings service to staff, visitors and fellows of the institute as well as catering for evening receptions, dinners and other events.
