London Cookbook Launched In Style
Tuesday October 14th 2008

Harbour & Jones has long been privileged to work with food writer Jenny Linford who conducts Gastro Tours around London for H&J staff and clients. So it was a pleasure to host a launch party to celebrate the publication of her new book, The London Cookbook.
Jenny has always written interesting and informative books that not only contain recipes, but get to the heart of the people behind the food scene and her latest book is no exception. It is packed with recipes and reminiscences from food-loving Londoners including Borough Market stall-holders, restaurateurs and food producers as well as ordinary people who just love to cook. Alongside all this is a fascinating account of the capital’s food history including its markets, tea and coffee-trading and captures the cultural diversity that has made London such a paradise for foodies.
The launch party was held at 76 Portland Place, home to the Institute of Physics and was attended by publishers, journalists, food writers and all the contributors to the book. Harbour & Jones served delicious canapés, quail’s eggs, smoked salmon from Chalk Farm smokery, W&F Fish, and British cheeses and hams. Rosemary, one of the guests commented, “Everything was so beautiful. The flowers and the food were wonderful; so simple - a great ham, delicious cheeses - but so good.” Other guests from the Guild of Food Writers were also impressed. Kate Whiteman, Events Coordinator for the Guild said, “Thankyou so much for inviting me to your splendid launch party and congratulations to Jenny on the book. The food was delicious and both Jane Suthering, the Guild president, and I would be keen to use Harbour & Jones for future Guild events”.
